Explanation of Homemade Instrument

Explanation of Homemade Instrument
Task: Create instructions on how you will make your instrument including the materials needed, step by step instructions on what to do, and explanation as to how the sound is made.
This doc is a really rough outline for setting out your writing. You should use images and even video where appropriate.

Materials Needed:
tape,straws

Instructions for Homemade Instrument:
  1. first you will need 5 straws
  2. then cut them shorter and shorter on each one
  3. then tape them all together
  4. then blow through it
  5. then sound comes out

Explanation of how sound is created:I am going to explain how it makes sound

Main reason:when blow through the straw it makes a funny sound

Second reason:because it is hollow in side

Third reason:then the sound travel through the straw

Fourth reason:Then sound comes out from the bottom

Conclusion:when you blow through the straw it makes sound

Immersion Assembly

Prg1: So today was the first day of term 2 everyone was so happy to be back with there friends and Teachers. As always the whole school meets up in the hall for a meeting then each team does a performance for the school to show us what we're learning about for this term.

Team1:The first team was team 1 they showed a movie of them at the zoo. It was about keeping the Animals safe and also us. They also showed us How to protect us and animal by using the objects that team 1 was going to learn about.

Team2:Team 2 had also showed us a movie about airplanes and gravity and it also had this old song on it that our school used to sing. Then all of the team 2 teachers got on to the stage and did a dance so teachers were dress up like planes and some were dress up as a police. THen they started to throw paper planes to the school

Team3:Team 3 had did a performance for us there performance was about a colours. Also did you know that the speed of colour is really fast nothing can beat it.

Team4:Team 4 had showed us a moving about how thing can float . They also ask us question like what one will sink and witch one will float. Like witch one will sink paper clip, Marble or a bowl and of course marble.

Team5:Team5 the last team there one was all about sound. They also had made a music video there music video was pretty cool they even made the own instruments. Then they will have real ones. Yea it was cool.

Term 1 Reflection

My highlights this term would have to be...
Finishing my work and Reaching my Goals.

I have made improvements in my Math whizz, Xtramath and Studyladder. In xtramaths that is where I’ve made the most improvement because I have passed most of my tasks on there. On the other hand Maths whizz is going a little bit well and also on Studyladder I think I’m doing a good job on that.

I know this because my teacher shows us where we are at and if we have finished it. It shows us if we are where we should be at or if we are below where we are supposed to be at.

I still need to work hard to improve my Goals so I can achieve them and get better at it. If I wasn't working hard then I would drop my learning efforts. I know this because when I stopped trying I drop down in my learning and then sometimes I never improve my goals.

I am most proud of my efforts in maths because I have done well and I always complete my tasks.

My 3 main goals for Term 2 will be:
1.my maths.
2. Achieving my Goals
3. Learning new stuff that I can write about.

Fia FIa

P1:Every Thursday us students at Pt England School Have a Fia Fia Group to go to.There are lots of groups like Tongan,Samoan,Asian,Kapa haka and even Bollywood.Im in HipHop.All the Fia Fia groups a all cool but I really Like hip hop Because Its Fun and I like listing to music and dancing with the beat.

P2:In our groups our instructions a really nice but when it comes to us playing  around and not listing it changes hahaha So thats when we all pay attention.But our Instructors a cool sometimes there funny when they try to do the Dance moves like Miss King.

P3: Fia fia is fun and cool and I cant wait to we do our performs and to see everyone else performs like bollywood hahaha I think that group is cool but I wouldn't be in it.This is Our FiaFia .

Thank you Letter

Dear Ms Erick


It was really helpful that you had come to the picnic because if you hadn't we wouldn't of had a great time. It was kind of you to come and spend your time looking after us and keeping us safe.


Every year at our picnic we meet up in the hall to check if everyone is there. Then we all walk up to Pt England beach and sit down and do a karakia. After that we will all just be free to do anything. But not go behind the bathrooms.
My favourite bit about the picnic was swimming because it was fun fighting with my friends and the water was nice and cool because it was a hot day. Also my favourite part of the picnic was getting to hang out with all of my friends.

What Does Empathy Mean To Me

 Empathy, Empathy is about understanding or feeling someone else's emotions. To me Empathy is about looking out for one another and caring for them when there feeling down. Also empathy can mean caring about your friends and empathy can also mean when someone else is feeling what you're feeling .

Empathy is like helping someone that is new to our school and hanging out with them because they might be lonely. Empathy is like when someone is sad about something and you know what there going through so you stay by them until there feeling happy again.

Empathy is like when someone is having a bad experience and you know how they feel thats called empathy. So Empathy is all about caring about one another and helping them out.

So thats what Empathy means to me,Empathy is about understanding and feeling someone else's emotions. :)

3)Participation:volunteering,giving it a go,sports,joining in,
:Participation is like volunteering for something like a sport.Partition can also mean giving it a go like when it was cross country I didn't want to do it but then I gave it a go.

Holiday High

*On new years eve my family and I had a party.My dad was the funniest.Everytime someone came he would run out and do the haka once time he even went on my Aunty's car and did the haka on that.When everyone was finally here we were doing a dance battle.The person that will always win is paris my little cousin.She was pretty funny to because she would go right up to the person and say What What and act like a boss haha yep thats her.

After that we went for a swim in my auntys pool.It was cool because we were playing marko poleo.I was not good that game and then we were boming in to the pool i did it wrong once and it hurt.My Uncle done the biggest one hahaha thats my little cousin paris dad so they both won.Then after that we went inside to have a kai we and chicken,pork,smoke fish and some other things.It was yuuuuummmmy.

After we had a kai we all just sat down but it doesn't last for long.Because we always play around.I just went back in the pool and thats what I did.

First day at Pt England School




In the morning my had Yelld out my name and told me to get ready to go to school.As I was walking with my Uncle to School I was asking lots of question.When I had got to pt england school I was 6 years old. I was in the hall at the back.When people were going to there classes one of the teachers were walking me down the hall way to my class.My first teachers name was Miss wood and my first class room was room 8.When I had first walk into my class room people started coming up to me and saying hi like I was a famuos person.

My friends names were Mele,Anamei,Page,Ane and Samuel. In my class I didnt listen to my teacher all the time I was a egg. But then I was starting to get better at listing.When it was lunch time I was playing around the school and when it was time to come back to class I was still playing out side.As I was out side I went back into my class room and my teacher ask me were I was and I said I was playing out side.

When We had went outside to play a game we were playing duck duck goose.As we were playing duck duck goose I was waiting for my turn .When someone finaly pick me I was runinng around the circle laughing and I fell over.Then the home bell went THats what I remeber.

I heard a whisper but no one was there.


             
       As I was walking home from my friends house I had heard a whisper coming from somewhere I was searching around but no one was there.When I had got home I was thinking really hard about the whisper I was thinking was it my mind playing tricks on me or was it real.Peacefully sleeping in my bed as I could hear that same whisper I had woken up and looked all around my room but no one was near to be seen.In the morning I had went to school telling my friend Sarona that I had been Hearing someone whispering to me and she had thought I had went crazy as I saw the look in her eyes.She had told Mya and Helen and they were asking me what could you hear them saying And I had said to them I dont know.Then Me and my friends Sarona,Mya and Helen were acting like spys it was really fun it was so fun that I had forgoten about that dum whisper.But then I had heard that whisper agian then we were looking around sneeky them we had jumped and catch that person but it was not him or her it was our friend sapphire.We were thinking that it was her we were asking why were u here right now in her face then she said to put the rubbish away and she had said this is were we put the rubbish and we all said OWWW.Then we all had went over to sarona’s house and they were asking me lots of question like hell come we didnt hear the whisper when we were with you and I just said I dont no.They were starting to think that I was lieing to them but I was saying so loud I’m not I’m not then they wereing saying ok ok we believe you.Then When we were walking to the takeaways we were all waiting out side for them to be ready as we were boad the whisper was back I could hear it and then I had turn and looked at my friends and said what and they said we heard it.Then we were all getting scared.But I was happy because I thought I was going crazy but nope.Then We were all getting ready and we were all searching and looking around for that person that was whispering.Then I said wait the fish and chips then I had went back to go get it then I heard the whisper but this time it was different this time I had thought I heard my name and I was right I did hear my name then I was yelling what do you want.Then I had woken up and said it was all a dream but then all my friends were next to me and they said oh no it wasn't a dream It was your cousin pranking us you black out when he had said your name so he stopped pranking you and took you home with us to.Then I Look at him angry and chase him around the house.

Auckland'er dragged behind a Humpback Whale

In fiji a Aucklander Has been dragged behind a humpback whale. The Person that got dragged by it was trying to untangle him from fishing gear that someone had dumped into the sea. The person who tried to let the whale free said that the knife he was using was a butter knife.This whale could not move its tail but as soon as it was cut free it had started to swim away.People have said that the fishing gear look like it was only under for a little while.There diving instructor knew that it would be a risk to jump in with a 12-m long mammal.So the whale is pretty lucky to be alive and that there is nice caring people out there.

My 1963 Story

Every day I have hoped that everything will change but it seems that it won’t ever happen. Being black in america is always hard because there always someone else who puts me down.


Right now I am marching to the Lincoln Memorial with my friends Monike. and Jazelle.We are holding signs and singing while we march in unison with hundreds and thousands of people. Our arms are getting tired from holding the signs for such a long time. We stop at the reflecting pool just as we hear Martin Luther King’s name get called out. A loud cheer comes from the crowd as he stands onto a platform.
I feel full of hope that maybe the law will change for the blacks. I look up and hear Martin Luther King shout out, “I Have a Dream that one day our nation will rise upon all racial people and have freedom as well as us (Black) people and (White) folks will treat each other equally”.

I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.


Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon of hope to millions of slaves, who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity. But one hundred years later, the colored America is still not free. One hundred years later, the life of the colored American is still sadly crippled by the manacle of segregation and the chains of discrimination.


One hundred years later, the colored American lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. One hundred years later, the colored American is still languishing in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land So we have come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.


In a sense we have come to our Nation's Capital to cash a check. When the architects of our great republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir.


This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed to the inalienable rights of life liberty and the pursuit of happiness.


It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has given its colored people a bad check, a check that has come back marked "insufficient funds."


But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. So we have come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and security of justice.


We have also come to his hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of Now. This is not time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism.


Now is the time to make real the promise of democracy.


Now it the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice.


Now it the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood.


Now is the time to make justice a reality to all of God's children.


It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment and to underestimate the determination of its colored citizens. This sweltering summer of the colored people's legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. Nineteen sixty-three is not an end but a beginning. Those who hope that the colored Americans needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual.


There will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the colored citizen is granted his citizenship rights. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.


We can never be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities.


We cannot be satisfied as long as the colored person's basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one.


We can never be satisfied as long as our children are stripped of their self hood and robbed of their dignity by signs stating "for white only."


We cannot be satisfied as long as a colored person in Mississippi cannot vote and a colored person in New York believes he has nothing for which to vote.


No, we are not satisfied and we will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.


I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of your trials and tribulations. Some of you have come from areas where your quest for freedom left you battered by storms of persecutions and staggered by the winds of police brutality.


You have been the veterans of creative suffering. Continue to work with the faith that unearned suffering is redemptive.


Go back to Mississippi, go back to Alabama, go back to South Carolina go back to Georgia, go back to Louisiana, go back to the slums and ghettos of our modern cities, knowing that somehow this situation can and will be changed.


Let us not wallow in the valley of despair. I say to you, my friends, we have the difficulties of today and tomorrow.


I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.


I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed. We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal.


I have a dream that one day out in the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slaveowners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.


I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.


I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by their character.


I have a dream today.


I have a dream that one day down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification; that one day right down in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.


I have a dream today.


I have a dream that one day every valley shall be engulfed, every hill shall be exalted and every mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plains and the crooked places will be made straight and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together.


This is our hope. This is the faith that I will go back to the South with. With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope.


With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood.


With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to climb up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.


This will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with new meaning "My country 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where my fathers died, land of the Pilgrim's pride, from every mountainside, let freedom ring!"


And if America is to be a great nation, this must become true. So let freedom ring from the hilltops of New Hampshire. Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York.


Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania.


Let freedom ring from the snow-capped Rockies of Colorado.


Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California.


But not only that, let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia.


Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi and every mountainside.


When we let freedom ring, when we let it ring from every tenement and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old spiritual, "Free at last, free at last. Thank God Almighty, we are free at last."

My friends Character Description


My friend Martha
Martha's looks like a girl with short hair well not that short and she has big brown hazel eyes.She is Short and Her hair is black and light brown and her hair is really straight.Martha is a person that never stays mad at a friend for too long.She also likes to laugh a lot to with me and Ane.Martha is really into dancing and singing and she also likes to be in drama because she really like to be in funny moments.I enjoy doing everything with her because we have lots of thing in common.




My friend Ane
Ane looks like a girl with short hair its not really short but kind of short and her eyes are brown.Her hair is wavy and straight some bits are wavy and some are not the colour of her hair is light brown with black bits of hair to.Ane is the same hight as me so her hight is normal.Ane is a kind of person that likes to make people laugh sometimes she also likes to be around other people. Ane Likes to talk a lot and she really enjoys laughing with me and Martha.I enjoy doing so many things with Ane  because she is really funny and cool.


My Friend Sarona
Sarona Is a kind of girl with long hair that is light brown and dark brown.She is just a bit smaller than me.Her eye colour is dark brown.I really like her eyes because her long eye lasher make them look cool.Sarona is a kind of person that makes me laugh and she is into music and scary movies and she also likes to talk about scary things to me and our friends.I like Sarona Because she is a really funny person and we also have some things in common.We both like the same movies and we like doing the same thing.

The Day Every One Disappeared


This morning we all completed our first writing sample for 2013.I have posted it just as I wrote it in the 40 mins that we were given so that throughout this year I will be able to look back and reflect on the progress I have made in my learning writing I Will post  my goals from this soon.


Today At School it was really interesting because I had seen everyone disappearing from the class room.So At School I had been talking to my friends and then I had went back to work then I looked up and sarona was gone.Then I had tryed to talk to my friends but they wont talk back.I had turned around to say something to the people behind  me then they had disappeared.Every thing was really weird today.

I had went back to work and I keeped on looking up so I could see were everyone was going but nothing happen I was thinking that some people went somewhere for a test.So then I had went back to work wondering if every was disppearing or not .Then I looked up and everyone was gone..I dash out of my class room to look at all the other class rooms and they all disappeared to


.I was looking around my hole School for Everyone  then I was getting scared that something might of happen to everyone.Because everyone was gone the teachers were gone my friends were gone and everyone else but not me.Then I went back to class to see if anyone came back and they didn’t. I was yelled for everyone for ages I was thinking of going home But I didnt I just went to my class room and waited for everyone to come back.


Then I screamed then all of a sudden I was on my table screaming and everyone was back and I was thinking was I dreaming or was I awake.Then I had told my friends all about what happen and they called me crazy.

Show not Tell


With the sun bearing down on me I felt like melting like an ice cream on a cone in the sun, drip by drip. Throughout the day I was getting really tired from the heat. I felt completely exhausted and had sweat dripping on the right side of my face.
